Asterix’s Album First Page Map/La carte de la première page d’Astérix

It is the fiftieth anniversary of Asterix, the main character of the comics books created by Uderzo and Gosciny. This is the occasion to  give a look at the very famous map that opens every Asterix’s album.  It represents Gaul occupied by the Romans with the famous small village still holding out against the invaders. The map’s hybrid nature is obvious. It combines three different graphic styles.

A l’occasion du cinquantenaire de la BD, revenons sur la fameuse carte qui ouvre chaque album d’Astérix, de Uderzo et Gosciny. Elle présente la Gaule occupée par les Romains et le fameux petit village gaulois résistant encore et toujours à l’envahisseur. Ultra-célèbre, son caractère hybride saute aux yeux. Elle combine habilement trois styles graphiques différents.
